Occlusal Analysis
Before we can begin any treatment, we must access the severity of the TMD, and determine the extent of the involvement of the bite. The occlusal analysis provides us with the diagnostic information to decide the right treatment to relieve these symptoms.
Impressions are made to provide study models of your teeth. These can be mounted on a simulator to mimic your specific jaw movements. Certain bite patterns can be seen that are indicitave of an unhealthy joint. We also use T-Scan, a computer sensor, to map your actual bite patterns. This information, combined with X-ray images, digital photos, and clinical observations, can be used to identify potential causes of TMD, and aid in treatment decisions.
